After a summer of heatwaves, we welcome a talk exploring the physical processes that shape thermal comfort in our cities, such as heat, radiation, and evaporation. We will explore materials and forms inspired by climate-adapted architecture and discover how physics can become a practical design tool.
Taught by:
Marijana Milicevic, PhD, is a physicist whose work follows light—from light confined in nanostructures to sunlight interacting with buildings. After researching light–matter interactions at the French National Centre for Scientific Research, she now works on climate-adapted buildings at Saint-Gobain Research Paris, exploring how materials, radiation, and moisture shape thermal comfort in buildings and cities. She enjoys using experiments to make invisible physical phenomena visible and believes good design begins with understanding how the world actually works.
