Come join us for an evening of watercoloring on the Seine with artist and author Fernanda Ballesteros. We will discuss natural pigments, local waterways, and create our own paintings and mythologies.
Fernanda Ballesteros:
Drawing on a dreamlike perspective and mythological references, Ballesteros explores the personal and social consequences of silence, guilt, narcissism, and grief. With a background in painting, history, literature, philosophy, and journalism, research and cultural exchange play a significant role in her work. Her most recent solo exhibition served to launch the book *Orquídeas de petróleo* (Petroleum Orchids), winner of the Elías Nandino National Poetry Prize and published by Fondo de Cultura Económica. She is also the author of *Agua vacía*, *Segunda virginidad*, and *Arigatou goza-y-más*. As a producer, she released the Emmy-nominated documentary "The Death Cleaner" with *The New York Times*, as well as "Rocío and Me" for *The New Yorker* and "Nigeria’s Dancer for Change" for Al Jazeera. She has participated in exhibitions—incorporating writing, painting, or performance—in Mexico, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Colombia.
